The Sudden Departure
I want to change my life.
While I think I remain very competitive at heart, I feel like I have become a little complacent. Having achieved financial security and a certain amount of professional success, it has become increasingly easy for me to just effortlessly exist and consume. Before all that I used to be relentlessly hungry and unstoppable. I want to feel that again. I want to try and fail again and again, to a point where if I succeed I can look back and nod with satisfaction.
I want to be more entrepreneurial.
One of my biggest problems is that I can recall many stretches of time, some of them fairly long, where I rallied the troops and put my head down and worked on some project that could lead to something bigger (an independent product, service - potentially a company, ultimately). However, since about when COVID broke out I have accomplished only one full run where I built a product from scratch and tried to go to market with it, and even then it took me about two years to accomplish this. Since then - nothing. With the LLMs being such a powerful sidekick, I can't honestly have an excuse to not try and leverage this to try and deliver on my ideas. I have fought countless battles with myself and my most important conclusion is that I can't keep fighting on like that - I can't keep going back and forth, fighting this cycle. I want a steady, compounding process that will allow me to look back and be satisfied with what I did and not regret what I did not, because I did what I should have.
I want to change my life, and this is my sudden departure from the previous one.
It's about 6:35 AM here, 15th of Sep 2026. I still have some coffee, and I am going to pick up Wizard (my current project) where I left it before my last work trip and carry on with code review.
